At Watry Design, our passion is to develop parking solutions that our clients and their communities are proud of. Through that passion, we have developed deep connections to the communities where we live, work and play and are always seeking ways that we can give back to those special places.
Our Southern California team members wished to make a contribution that would aid one of the greatest challenges facing our local community – ending homelessness. Nearly one-quarter of the US’s homeless population resides in California, including 59,000 in Los Angeles alone.
Women in particular face unique challenges when experiencing homelessness. Therefore, Watry Design committed to supporting the Downtown Women’s Center (DWC). The DWC “is the only organization in Los Angeles focused exclusively on serving and empowering women experiencing homelessness and formerly homeless women.”
One of many services the DWC offers is the Health and Wellness program, which serves nearly 200 women a day. A component of this program, the Day Center, advocates for the health and wellness of homeless women by providing a safe space, nutritious meals and clean bathrooms and showers. Our team procured, assembled and delivered hygiene kits to support the women this program serves.
