A parking structure located on Third Street between B and C Streets was conceived to meet the main retail area demand. Watry Design worked with the City over several years to develop the program, select the site and complete the planning and design review process. The architectural style of the structure was developed to meet the City’s wish to make the structure look more like a typical building. Exterior openings on the upper levels are combined and treated with metal frames to give the appearance of windows. In addition, a detailed cornice was used on the structure to complement surrounding building styles. Entries at both B and C streets incorporate control gate systems and pay-on-foot stations and an attendant booth is also provided. A freestanding trellis and walkway tie the structure to B-Street. Landscaping was used as much as possible around the building to soften its impact on the surrounding streets.
