Education

Parking is the first and last experience people have on a campus and it should be designed into the overall plan. Parking is not a destination in and of itself, but an introductory point for a user to become a pedestrian on a campus to get to their final destination. It is critical to respect the pedestrian and bicycle paths on campus during the parking design process and to avoid conflicts between people and cars.

Campus parking needs to address the various user groups of faculty, staff and students, as well as visitors and special events. We also understand the need to have the parking design integrate with transportation nodes on campus; this assists with getting people where they need to go. In addition, this can help to minimize the need to build more parking than necessary.
