Image for Alta Bates Providence Parking Structure Condition Assessment

Hired by Sutter Health, Watry Design, Inc. conducted a Condition Assessment that included the evaluation of distressed concrete components, recommendations for appropriate repairs and development of a preliminary budget for the proposed work. Utilizing a team of two, the findings from the visual evaluation were captured in a report that also noted non-structural maintenance and/or aesthetic issues. This review and analysis included a list of repair items categorized by:

A. Critical:  Items to arrest the accelerated decay of the building and potential safety issues.
B. Strongly Suggested: Items to repair, restore, or preserve structural integrity.
C. Maintenance:  Items to repair for improved appearance/environment of the building.

Due to parking constraints at the hospital it was not possible to close the parking structure down for the necessary repairs. Watry Design, Inc. worked with hospital staff to create a disruption plan identifying areas to close off one at a time to perform repairs while causing minimal disruption to the parking structure and the patients and hospital staff it serves. Critical items were repaired in 2012.
